Savage Beauty

I recently saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit and I was truly.. grateful. I was lucky to have seen so much of his just work inches away, and absolutely appreciated the philosophy in his work. This man understood that all forms in Mother Nature have a life cycle. He understood the concept of mortality and used it as a driving force in his design. Often, and even I do this, we tend to live life as if we're immortal, that.. death is nowhere near us, as if we have all the time in the world to pursue our life's ambitions. It's never really been the case, and even though he died so unfortunately, he left more than a legacy, there was a philosophy and fashion was just the basis of it all. He integrated innovative sculpture-forms, performance, drama and left enough room of "gray" to a point in which I honestly don't know what he would've design next. He embraced the female form in all aspects, the weight of the world she carried and she still looked fearless. I couldn't help but believe that he was a "feminist" designer.

Thank You Alexander McQueen.

And if there was one piece I would only wear, for the rest of my life, it would be this:

I would wear it to my wedding, my funeral, even daily grocery shopping if I could. To look that empowered everyday, fearless.
