I still love Amy Winehouse, I was just always wishing for the day she'd be back making music, changing the world. I was really sad knowing her performances lacked that power she used to have, it got to the point where I refused to see any performances she did, cause it would taint my honest view of her. I love soul, girl bands of the 60s and jazz—I was raised that way musically from my grandmother— and when I listened to her for the first time, she not only embodied what I loved about music from the past, but also brought a sharp attitude, unpolished and modern. It was so needed at the time of her arrival. And whatever troubles she had as a person, when she sang, I believed she was expelling them from her life. It didn't last with her, and I'm learning to accept that now, but she left an impression on me.
